I know I don't mean that much to you
a penny in your pocket
you've got maybe one or two
but if your life needs a little bit of change
and your loonie friends are in short supply
when you find you're digging deep

I'm change for the bus fair
enough for a change of scenery
and when you get there
maybe you'll still want me
so transfer now to the route I'm on
hop aboard we can have some fun
travel light what's your baggage for
you and me we don't need much more
than a penny in your pocket

    how could you toss it away
    don't seem like a lot to start
    but save that penny in your piggy bank
    one rainy day you'll have me to thank

paid for in a moment of doubt
what you really bought
a little love so you're never without
there's no refund not guarantee
no assurance love will please
pay your money place your bet
